The Alice Austen House is open to explore the personal identity and inspire the public through photographs in the historic home of Alice Austen (1866-1952). Alice Austen, a pioneering American photographer of the Victorian Age, known to be an ‘modern woman’ and an inspiration to many. Alice is highly known as a prolific photographer who documented important events from the mid-19th century to the first half of the 20th century. Alice Austen is recognized as a photographer who helped the public view the past and form a connection to the social issues we withhold in the present.
